PREGNANCY 1
The placenta develops from fetal tissue.
It exchanges materials between maternal and fetal blood. These materials
are carried in the umbilical cord by the
umbilical artery and vein.
The amnion is also mainly derived from
fetal tissue. It encloses the amniotic fluid.
This provides the fetus with a constant environment, as well as providing
it with some protection by acting as a shock absorber.
